The Department of Molecular and Functional Genomics and its Radioisotope Laboratory and the Department of Materials Analysis are located on the Matsue Campus. The former specializes in genomic studies, including recombinant DNA experiments, in the field of biology and agriculture, and the latter in instrumental analysis and methodology in the field of basic and applied science of materials. Laboratories in the Department of Biosignaling and Radioisotope Experiments and in the Department of Experimental Animals are located on the Izumo campus, and specialize in biomedical research. The former is composed of a photo center, a radioisotope laboratory and four analytical sections: structural, cellular, molecular and genetics analysis. The latter provides an excellent facility for animal experimentation.Center for Community Innovation (CCI)Regions in Japan have been facing many serious problems such as unbalance of age structure of populations, disturbance of environment, shrinkage of industry and economy, and diminish of medical supports. To understand and solve these problems, CCI provides our students problem/project-based learning programs and valuable opportunities to collaborate with specialists in the local communities.
